DTM Powers Ahead into the Age of the Turbo
DTM will replace the normally aspirated V8s and rely on more efficient, more powerful, 4-cylinder 2.0 turbos as their spec powerplants for the 2019 DTM season. The Audi RS5 DTM will use a 2.0 TFSI unit many will be familiar with as Audi uses this configuration in a good amount of their street cars.
Even better news are that the new 4-cylinders will be pumping out more horsepower than their predecessor V8s from 500 hp to 600 hp. Aero will also be considerably updated as the lower profile 4-bangers will allow for better aerodynamic changes to the front end. This harks back to the old glory days of DTM as they try to increase their viewership world-wide.
The new DTM season will start May 5, 2019, at the Hockenheimring. As more specs are made available, we will be covering them here.
